Non-ND Student Programs

The University of Notre Dame invites exceptional undergraduate students, both domestic and international, enrolled in universities in the U.S. or around the world to study abroad at one of our global locations or through one of our summer programs. Studying Abroad through Notre Dame will allow non-ND students to take advantage of our state of the art global education programs while earning Notre Dame credits.

Non-ND students participating in our study abroad programs will be enrolled as full-time, visiting, non-degree undergraduate students at ND and will receive an official Notre Dame transcript upon completion of the program. However, credit transfer will be determined by each student’s home institution.

Studying Abroad through Notre Dame offers a number of exciting academic and co-curricular opportunities. Depending on the program, non-Notre Dame students will be able to take advantage of numerous courses and academic opportunities and participate in research, internships, and community engagement abroad. For detailed information on each program’s academic and co-curricular opportunities, please click on the program links below.

Important Resources

To be eligible for one of our study abroad programs, non-ND students must be enrolled at an accredited institution in the U.S. or at a higher education institution abroad and meet their home institution's requirements for study abroad. In addition, participants must have completed at least one year of study at their home institution prior to the start of the program. For more information on eligibility, please view the individual program pages.

Our Notre Dame Study Abroad staff is always happy to speak with non-Notre Dame students who are interested in participating in one of our eligible programs. Prior to speaking with one of our staff members, we encourage you to reach out to your home institution’s study abroad office to confirm that you can apply academic credit from our programs to your academics at home. In addition, we encourage you to discuss your study abroad plans with your academic advisor, your financial aid advisor, and any other relevant staff, such as your home institution’s health services.

Our staff is available to assist you with questions regarding our programs, eligibility, as well as the application, admission, and pre-departure processes. You can find our program specific advisors listed on our program pages and we encourage you to reach out via phone, email, or schedule a virtual Zoom appointment.
