The University of Notre Dame invites exceptional undergraduate students, both domestic and international, currently enrolled in a university, to study abroad through one of our Summer Study Abroad programs. Studying abroad through the University of Notre Dame offers a number of exciting academic and co-curricular opportunities. Depending on the program, non-Notre Dame students will have the opportunity to take advantage of numerous courses and academic programs, as well as participate in research, internships, and community engagement abroad. Studying abroad through Notre Dame allows students to take advantage of our state-of-the-art global education programs while earning Notre Dame credits. Non-ND students will be enrolled at Notre Dame as a full-time, visiting, non-degree undergraduate during their time abroad and will receive an official Notre Dame transcript upon completion of their program. PLEASE NOTE: Credit transfer will be determined by the student’s home institution.

Eligibility
To be eligible for one of our study abroad programs, non-ND students must be enrolled at an accredited institution in the U.S. or at a higher education institution abroad and meet their home institution's requirements for study abroad. Additionally, participants must have completed at least one year of study at their home institution before the start of the program. Advising
Our Notre Dame Study Abroad staff is always happy to speak with non-Notre Dame students who are interested in participating in one of our eligible programs. Before speaking with a staff member, we encourage you to reach out to your home institution’s study abroad office to confirm that you can apply academic credit from our programs to your academics at your home institution. We also encourage you to discuss your study abroad plans with your academic advisor, your financial aid advisor, and any other relevant staff, such as your home institution’s health services.
Our staff is available to assist you with questions regarding our programs, eligibility, the application process, as well as admission and pre-departure processes should you be accepted into one of our programs. You can find program-specific advisors listed on the Program Advising page. We encourage you to reach out via phone, email, or schedule a virtual Zoom appointment.
Finances
Non-ND students participating in Study Abroad programs conducted during the summer will be charged the program fee indicated on each program's individual site. This payment covers Notre Dame credit for the program of study, all accommodations, including program excursions, and Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Solutions health insurance coverage while participating in a Notre Dame Summer Study Abroad program. Please refer to each program's individual site for details on what is included in the program fee and additional costs students can expect at each location.

The application period is September 1 - November 15, the year before students go abroad.

You will be submitting an application questionnaire, essay, and an academic recommendation request, as well as several required documents, through the online application portal.
