UNDT is located just outside of the Old City of Jerusalem and Bethlehem making it easy to visit the number of significant cultural, historical, and biblical sites surrounding it. Jerusalem is a mosaic of cultures and nationalities, peoples and neighborhoods, and interesting architecture. Christian, Muslim, and Jewish traditions intermingle and contrast throughout the city displaying its vibrant character. Its churches, mosques, and synagogues reflect the varied and rich history that this city has experienced, and you will easily be immersed in the sights, sounds, and beauty of Jerusalem.

You will experience the depth and complexity of life in Jerusalem, both as a site of historical and religious significance and as a site of contemporary political conflict. You will be challenged to deepen your worldview through engagement with a wide variety of perspectives. Beyond your coursework, you will have the opportunity to work with local NGO’s and engage with local religious, political, and civil societies leaders through activities such as sharing Iftar meals with Palestinian refugees or participating in Shabbat services and meals with Orthodox Jewish families. You will also have the opportunity to traverse much of the Holy Land with excursions exploring Tel Aviv, visiting holy sites in Nazareth and Bethlehem, floating in the Dead Sea, and trekking through Jordan by camelback.
