Notre Dame’s program in Angers has been offered since 1966, in partnership with the Université Catholique de l’Ouest. Situated in the historic Loire Valley at the confluence of the Maine and Loire rivers, Angers is less than two hours by train from Paris and about one hour from the Atlantic port city of Nantes. The heart of the city, with a 12th-century cathedral and a 13th-century castle, plus winding, narrow streets and old houses, maintains its medieval charm. Angers is a perfect gateway for exploring the Loire Valley, wider France, and Europe.
Students can dive further into language learning by participating in the CIDEF program (Centre International d’Etudes Françaises),a center that belongs to the Université Catholique de l’Ouest. The CIDEF program was originally designed for French majors and has developed over the years to accommodate any student, regardless of their major, who wants to dedicate an entire semester or year and acquire proficiency in the French language abilities. All classes are taught in French and are tailored for each student’s level of French.
CIDEF Administration will organize students’ academic experience by providing classes tailored for each students level of French and allow students to dive into life in Angers by staying with a host family.
