The Summer Study Abroad Withdrawal Policy is designed to ensure that students are fully aware of the financial and academic implications of withdrawing from a summer study abroad program. This policy outlines the procedures and penalties for withdrawal. If you have any specific questions regarding this policy, email studyabroad@nd.edu.

To withdraw from a summer study abroad program, students are required to:
- Complete the Study Abroad Withdrawal Request Form
- NDG will acknowledge the receipt of submitted requests and will process the withdrawal once it is approved.
- PLEASE NOTE: The withdrawal is NOT official until a notification is sent to the student from Study Abroad.
- Communicate with your study abroad program director. Click here for the list of study abroad program directors.
Students who are placed on academic or disciplinary probation prior to the start date of the summer term are not eligible to participate in study abroad programs per University policy so will be withdrawn from the program by the Notre Dame Global Study Abroad office. No withdrawal fees will be assessed upon students who are being withdrawn from a summer study abroad program due to academic or disciplinary probation but students will be responsible for any non-recoverable costs incurred by the University prior to the date of withdrawal. These costs may include payments made by the University for program fees, cultural activities, transportation, and housing costs. Contact studyabroad@nd.edu for more information on non-recoverable costs.
Withdrawal fees and/or non-recoverable costs will appear as a charge on the student's Notre Dame student account.
Federal Title IV Assistance
Students receiving University and/or Federal Title IV financial assistance who withdraw from off-campus programs and are not able to enroll on the main campus within the first 60% of the credit period are not entitled to the use or benefit of University and/or Title IV funds beyond their withdrawal date. Such funds shall be returned promptly to the entity that issued them, on a pro rata basis, and will be reflected on the student’s Notre Dame student account. This Withdrawal Regulation may be subject to change according to federal regulations. Examples of the application of tuition credit calculation are available from the Office of Student Accounts upon request.
