Why did you choose this study abroad program? I am excited to visit Portugal because of its rich cultural heritage and diversity. I am particularly interested in the African, Brazilian, and Northern African influences that have shaped its culture. I know that many people of color may not have had the opportunity to explore this culture and may not know what to expect, but I'm eager to challenge myself and learn more by immersing myself for a month.
During my trip, I plan to experience Portugal's culture through various activities such as visiting museums, historical sites, and attending cultural events and festivals. I am also looking forward to trying the local cuisine and interacting with locals. To better understand the culture, I am learning some basic Portuguese phrases to facilitate communication.
