Why did you choose this study abroad program? Studying abroad in South Africa will allow me to expand my understanding of the Black struggle globally. Growing up in the United States and studying at Notre Dame has put me into a bubble, and by going abroad, I hope to be able to breach this bubble. While taking a class focused on understanding the psychology of South Africans post-apartheid rule, I will be exploring the landscape, hearing personal testimonies, and immersing myself in an unfamiliar culture. This experience will encourage growth and enhance my understanding of Black issues around the world.
