Director, Study Abroad

Robert (Bobby) Leis’s career in higher education and global programming began in 2004 when he moved to South Korea. For the next nine years he taught ESL at the language academies, supported dual degree programs between Sogang University and institutions in Australia and the United Kingdom, created online/digital content for the Cyber University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, and taught cultural training seminars to students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and professional levels.

Leis returned to the U.S. in 2013 and began working as at the Center for Global Engagement at Baylor University, supporting both incoming and outgoing students. He became the Assistant Director of Global Baylor in 2018 where he worked to implement the university’s strategic internationalization strategy, overseeing a variety of programs including DEI initiatives, new scholarships, a global certificate program, as well as strategic assessment and reporting. Prior to joining the Study Abroad team at NDG, Leis was the Associate Director of Global Initiatives, working closely with all offices and programming which support the overall internationalization strategies at Baylor University.

Leis holds an MBA from Baylor University, an MA in the Teaching and Practice of Writing at Cardiff University in Wales, and a B.A. in Critical Literary Studies from U.W. Milwaukee.
