Designed around iconic Mesoamerican objects, colonial churches, world-renown murals, and museums, the course exposes students to the vast cultural infrastructure of Mexico City, while providing an in-depth overview of the history that makes this city one of the most important and historical art capitals of the western hemisphere. Students will broaden their global perspective by engaging and interacting with artists, gallerists, and critics working in the latest international trends. Taught by Notre Dame art history and studio art faculty, the course will provide students with a deeper understanding of the art and culture of Mexico, refine their writing skills, and introduce them to diverse creative practices.
